You won’t have to be concerned about VCT solenoids if your Ford car wasn’t one of them. Most notably, Ford used VCT technology in the 4.6L 3-valve V8 engine that it used in Ford Explorers from 2006 through 2010 in addition to Ford Mustang GTs from 2005 through 2010. It was also used in the Triton 5.4L 3-valve V8 engine for some time.

Hey! Has anybody solved this loss of power problem. I'm having it on my mk3 ford focus 1.6 ti-vct. It only appears to happen once the car has been started and doesn't appear whilst already driving. Put my foot to the floor and the needle barely moves and sounds throaty and a loss of power its terrible up hills.

2005 Focus Mk II 1.6 Ti-VCT I've just bought the above with 39k miles on it. I understand that this particular variant of the 1.6 is belt cam and the official replacement interval is 8 years/100k miles. I won't be leaving it until that mileage, but at 8 years old it's likely to have done about 60k - is it safe to leave it until then?

I been trying to fix this fault on a 1.6 Focus with Zetec SE engine. Last year at times it would have been hesitant holding back etc. The P0171 fault code had flag up. I had change a few parts, these being fuel filter, spark plugs, coil pack, MAP sensor (used), and it still was eventually bringing the light up.

#1 · Sep 4, 2017 Hi ! I just came back from service where I did not solve my problem with the 1.6 Ti-VCT engine on my FF MK3. For some time, I noticed that, with the stationary car, when the engine rises above 1500 rpm there is a trembling of the engine, wich IS NOT present at relanti (under 1500 RPM)

Except from the Duratec 1.6 TI-VCT (105 and 125 HP) all other engine types of the Focus MK3 have Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS). The EPAS system should be functioning at any time. The EPAS system is speed dependant.
